Limestone is one of Pakistan’s most valuable and abundant natural resources, composed primarily of calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). It forms through the accumulation of marine organisms such as corals and shells over millions of years. This versatile rock serves as a core raw material for cement, steel, glass, paper, and chemical industries, making it a cornerstone of the construction and manufacturing sectors.

Pakistan has widespread and high-quality limestone reserves found across all provinces: Punjab: Large deposits in Daudkhel, Dandot, and Khewra support the country’s major cement plants. Sindh: Found in Thatta and Hyderabad, used for both cement and industrial applications. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Notable reserves in Cherat, Kohat, and Nowshera, supplying construction industries. Balochistan: Extensive deposits in Hub, Loralai, and Dera Bugti regions with strong potential for export.
Cement Industry: Limestone is the main ingredient in clinker production. Construction Material: Used for building stones, road base, and aggregate. Steel and Glass Production: Acts as a flux to remove impurities. Chemical Industry: Essential in lime production, water treatment, and agriculture.
