Iron ore is the primary raw material for steel production, containing minerals like hematite and magnetite rich in iron content. In Pakistan, substantial deposits are found in Kalabagh (Punjab), Chiniot, Nokundi (Balochistan), and Kohat (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa). Despite its abundance, large-scale extraction and processing remain limited, presenting a strong opportunity for local steel manufacturing and export growth. With modern mining technology and government support, Pakistan’s iron ore reserves could significantly reduce steel imports and boost industrial development.
